If you're serious about improving anything then you need goals. Decent
goals give you a place to start and idea of where you're going and something to
measure your progress against.
There are however some guidelines you should follow when setting your goals.
- If you're going to set your sights high i.e. "I want to be world
champion at whatever" then you need to split this up into steps
or sub-goals. This allows you to reach your goal
a little at a time.
- Following on from this - make your goals achievable.
You don't want to end up severely de-motivated.
- Add a timetable to your goals - this gives
you a better idea of how you're getting on and gives you extra motivation by
making you fell like you're getting somewhere.
- Take things one step at a time - don't try to
run before you can walk i.e. if say you want to be a full contact fighter,
you may know the techniques to be successful but you may not be able to
react under pressure. Therefore first of all you're going to need to
train for this. Put your goals in order!
- Make sure you've got the equipment you need to
achieve your goals - there's nothing worse than going to do something
only to find that you can't.
There you have it, all the basics you need to get your training working for
you.
GOOD LUCK!!
